Earthquake!!

I felt my first earthquake today! It was my first day of hospital orientation, and I was just sitting in the computer training room (trying to stay awake) and everything started shaking; computers were rattling on the table, the projector screens were going side to side.... and everyone was laughing! I was like, hello, isn't anyone going to huddle under this table with me or what?! The guy next to me, a lifelong Alaskan, said this is a normal occurrence and nothing to worry about. So 10 seconds later, I said, can I get under the table now?! Everyone was laughing at me because I am an earthquake virgin. No longer. I survived the earthquake of '09.

(except the part of the article where they say people were "diving under desks"- that was only me)

  1. There is nothing like your first earthquake. The first one I can remember was the quake of '89 in Northern Cali. Everyone remembers that one because it disrupted the World Series. All the training I had received in school went out the window, and I, too, laughed as my house violently shook around me. I'm impressed that you actually had the presence of mind to dive under your desk. As long as no one get hurts (and property damage is minimal), they are very fun and rejuvenating. ~ N
