Our Big Backyard

Derek told me the best part of growing up in Alaska was that it felt like you had this great big backyard; that it sometimes felt like you had this place all to yourself. It's true. We spent the last few days canoeing through a lake system and only saw two groups of people in three days. Last week we went to his parents' property north of Anchorage and played outside with the family for two days. I shot a gun, used a machete, cut firewood, and filleted a fish. What happened to the city girl in me?!?! I guess I would just make a really good gangster now with all my new skills.
