Ode to Seattle

When I came to Seattle I was a youngster of twenty four.

I had no idea that one day I would live above a Bartells store!

I fell crazy in love with Derek, loved to spend my time with that man,

We got married and lived atop a fancy hill named Queen Anne

Sometimes we drank too much and went to Kerry Park

I once got attacked by a coyote in the dark.

We didn't work any more than we should

And we camped as much as we could.

I learned how to snowboard, loved Stevens Pass.

Loved Crystal and Whistler, though I often fell on my ass.

I can't say enough about the friends we have met.

Have they even invented friends in Alaska yet?

I would take you all along if I could,

But in the winter, freeze you all would.

So I'll come visit, my friends all over the lower 48

And come to Alaska- it will be great!!
